Drop Off (7.00 – 8.00 am)

Teachers and Assistants must attend to the first gate to guide the pupils in. Parents and or guardians are not allowed in to the classroom or school ground in the morning, except to the school office.

Pick Up

On admission, Liora School demands the submission of at least one passport photograph of both parents and any other party involved in the drop and pick process. At pickup, the child will only be released to parties whose photographs have been submitted, as they sign out. In case of emergency, where neither of these parties are unavailable, Liora School requires a signed written note and phone call to confirm your authorization for such pick up.

Transport System

Ths Shuttle/Bus picks and drops pupils at designated points and time. When students are not available at the stipulated pick-up spots, the bus waits for 5 minutes and exits. No transport staff is permitted to go into the pupil’s home/accommodation to pick the pupil.

At drop-off, where no assigned adult is at designated point to sign out the pupil (3 months- 10 years), the pupil is returned to the school office. In both cases the parent/s are to make alternative arrangements to convey the child.

Late Pickup

Where a child is left in the school premise beyond 4.00 pm; the parent is required to pay a stipulated a fine per child, (per hour the child is made to wait before being picked). Where delay in pick up is as a result of an emergency, the parent is expected to contact the school to advice.

Parents’ Participation

These activities include, but are not limited to: Class and club presentations; Folk-tale Friday, Parent-Teacher Conference (open day); Liora School forum (P.T.A.); Family Day; End of term activities; and Graduation ceremonies.

Homework & Assignments

Parents/Guardians are expected to participate in the child’s learning process by ensuring that the child attends to every assignment given with minimal assistance and maximum supervision at home. Homework diary is provided for the parent/s to attest to their engagement in this process. Where assignments are left unattended, the child will be asked to repeat and if this persists, may be further penalized accordingly.

Hair Do

Boys are expected to wear a decent cut, with no form of artificial coloration or skull artistic designs. Girls are expected to wear a decent hair do; and where extensions (attachment) are used, they should not be beyond the child’s shoulder. They are also prohibited from having excessively coloured hairdo (like white, gold, purple, blue, orange, etc.), except where the child has a natural blond, gold or red hair, exceptions be made. The school also discourages burdensome excessive hair-do; management may request that a child’s hair-do be changed or removed. This is to ensure that the child gets the full opportunity of concentrating on her studies, rather than be burdened or distracted by discomforts from an excessive hair do. Girls are also prohibited from decorating their hair with beads of any kind. This is to prevent common accidents like children plucking off the beads and putting in their mouth, ear, or nostril. Alternatively, their hair can be neatly packed with strips of ribbon or moderate sized hair ruffles.

Toys and Gadgets

Toys and Gadgets should not be brought from home as they are easily lost and drive unhealthy competition among the children.

Damage of School Property by pupil

Parent will be contacted to make good for the loss incurred by the school.

Birthday Parties

All birthday parties held in school will be scheduled during lunchtime. These should be kept very simple and low keyed and we ask parents to bring:

  • Either a birthday cake or individual cupcakes (enough for each child in the class)
  • A storybook that the birthday child has chosen for his/ her birthday story time, to be read to the class by the child’s parent or teacher and thereafter donated to the school library.

Meals

Parents/ guardians are expected to provide their child/ ward with a snack or meal for the day.

Thursday Fruity Delight

Every Thursday each pupil is to come to school with a fruit in place of a snack. No child shall be fed a snack on Thursday. So parents are to pack a main meal, a fruit and water only for their child.

Fast & Prayer

Based on recommendations of our P.T.A., the 2nd Friday after resumption which is our Liora Forum Day (PTA), our pupils are encouraged to participate in a voluntary prayer and fast program 6am – 9am.

Health Information & Medication

For every child granted admission into Liora School, it is expected that where the child has a medical condition, the parent of the child must make this known to the school authorities.

Liora School has a sick bay and a First Aid Kit to handle minor health issues that occur within school hours. Liora School also maintains consultancy service of a Certified First Aid Assistant attached to the School Sick Bay.

If a child is diagnosed of having a contagious illness (e.g. rash, contagious cough, measles, chicken pox, mumps, tonsillitis, etc.); please notify the school immediately. Where it was discovered at school, the school shall immediately require the attention of the parent/ guardian, and request the child be taken home at once and kept at home till completely healed.

Discipline

Liora School runs a policy of ‘no physical harm’ on the child as a form of punishment for wrong behavior. Each Liora teacher has been trained to identify, select or formulate child specific corrective measures that will bring about the desired change in each child’s behavior.

Grounds for Expulsion

A pupil may be expelled from Liora School for persistently violating school rules and where allowing the pupil to remain in the school will be detrimental to the education or welfare of other pupils or staff.

Conflict Resolution

When a problem arises concerning your child, resolution should follow these steps:

  • Discuss the problem with your child’s Teacher first (on the open day), or if very urgent discuss with the school administration and not with other parents, (especially with those who are not parents of Liora School).
  • If problem remains or unsatisfactorily resolved after attempting step 1 above, address the problem with the Director of School on – 08133204602.

Communication

Although you may have daily contact with Liora School, we shall arrange to meet you individually at least twice a term – our Parents-Teacher Conferences (Open Day) and Liora Forum (P.T.A). Our communication path will remain via written notices (usually attached to Homework Diary), text messages and phone calls.
