Curriculum

Currently we run three schools:

Liora Pre – School (3months – 5 years): Designed to reflect Montessori teaching methods taking cognizance of the five senses in the learning process; best practices in the Montessori (ages 0 – 3 and 3 – 6 years), British (Key Stage 0) and Nigerian (Nursery) Curriculum.

Liora Basic School (5 – 10+years): Runs a fusion of best practices in the Montessori (ages 6 – 12), British (Key Stages 1 & 2), Nigerian (Basic 1 – 6) Curriculum.

Liora College (Secondary School): Is designed to produce persons who do not only fit into society, but can identify and bring solution to societal problems. Our Junior College (Key Stage 3: JSS1 – 3/ Basic 7 – 9) is a deeper look into what is offered in our Basic School. Our Senior College curriculum (Key Stage 4: SSS1 – SSS3), is further advanced to include- learning experiences in addition to the basic subjects. These extra experiences are in the areas of Entrepreneurship studies, Trade subjects, Further Mathematics, Economics, Government, Financial Accounting, Commerce, Food and Nutrition and Technical Drawing.

PRE-SCHOOL (KS0) BASIC SCHOOL COLLEGE

Ø Critical reasoning;

Ø Mathematics (Numeracy and Arithmetics)

Ø Language (Literacy, Phonics, and Calligraphy);

Ø Sensorial;

Ø Practical life and Grace & Courtesy;

Ø Religious and Moral studies;

Ø Music and rhymes;

Ø Arts and craft;

Ø Sciences- Botany, Zoology & Technology;

Ø Cultural studies – History, Geography, Social Studies, Nigerian Language and Culture;

Ø Large and small motor skills.

 

 Languages: English Language, Modern foreign language (French), and Nigerian Language (Igbo/ Hausa/ Yoruba);

·    Science- Botany, Geography, zoology, Physical and health sciences;

·    Design and technology- Technology, Practical Vocations, Information and Communication Technology (ICT);

·    Pre- Vocational studies: Home economics and Agriculture;

·    Religious and National values – Civic education, Security education, Religious studies, v and History;

·    Cultural and Creative Art and design; and

·    Music- theories and practical instrumentation.

·    Languages: English Language, Modern foreign language (French), and Nigerian Language (Igbo/ Hausa/ Yoruba);

·    Mathematics and Further mathematics

·    Science- Biology, Physics, Chemistry, Geography, Physical and health Sciences;

·    Design and technology- Technology, Technical Drawing, Information and Communication Technology (ICT), Programming;

·    Pre- Vocational studies: Home economics, Agricultural Science and Foods and Nutrition;

·    Religious and National values – Civic education, Security education, Religious studies, Social Studies, History and Government;

·    Cultural and Creative Art and design;

·    Music

·    Commercial Studies- Business Studies, Accounting, Economics, Commerce

We have also included library hours, besides class reading sessions in literature to cultivate and enhance children’s reading habit. In English language we place further emphasis on diction/ grammar, creative writing, calligraphy, spelling, and etiquette.
