INTRODUCTION TO LIORA PRE-SCHOOL (CRECHE; PRE- KINDERGARTEN; & KINDERGARTEN)

Research has shown that a child learns more than half of all he or she will learn in their lifetime by the time the child turns 5 years of age. This means most of the traits that manifest in the future as character/ behavior, can be traced to the person’s learning experience in the early ages. Little wonder the Holy Book stressed…” bring up a child the way he should go; so, when he grows, he will not depart from it”.

Therefore, the Liora Pre-school has been set up to:

  • Provide right early learning experience for playgroup and kindergarten age children that will fully develop the broad base of their innate abilities such that they can become effective persons in their future pursuit.
  • Assist parents with the responsibility of providing care and love for the proper development of the child, in a clean and loving environment where they also socialize with their peers.
  • Inspire children to be the best they can be, believing they are the answer to today and tomorrow.
  • Develop our children to full potential in body, mind, heart and spirit, inspired by our faith in God and working with our parents, religious & social institutions and communities; to yield responsible, trustworthy and God-fearing adults for a better world.

As an educational institution, our programs from foundation cover the relevant areas of a being’s development which only education can address. These include:

  1. Cognitive Development: This is the child’s ability to learn and solve problems.
  2. Social and Emotional Development: This is the child’s ability to interact with others, including helping themselves and self-control.
  3. Speech and Language Development: This is the child’s ability to both understand and use language.
  4. Motor Skill Development (fine and gross): This is the child’s ability to use small muscles and large muscles to function as a being.

To achieve these, we expose the child to many learning experiences which include, but are not limited to:

  • Critical reasoning (aptitudes)
  • Numeracy (Number recognition, counting and uses)
  • Literacy (Letter recognition, phonics and uses)
  • Sensorial
  • Grace and Courtesy as well as practical life studies
  • Religious and Moral studies
  • Music and rhymes
  • Arts and craft
  • Cultural Studies introducing history, geography, local culture, and social norms
  • Large and small motor skills
  • Sciences
  • Interactive sessions
  • Splash and play

Our daily activities are strategized to integrate each child’s needs, interests and abilities and focus on the development of the whole child. Our programs are designed to reflect the Montessori teaching method which promotes self-motivated education by the children; celebrating and nurturing each child’s intrinsic desire to learn. Children work on constructive and discovery models which help them learn concepts from working materials rather than direct instruction alone. The pre-school age falls under the first plane of human development in the Montessori method, where the child is seen as the concrete, sensorial explorer and leaner building functional independence.
